Derrick Williams was born paraplegic and faced physical challenges from an early age. With the support of his aunt, who was a nurse at Temple Hospital, he received the guidance and encouragement he needed throughout his development.
He later participated in the Special Olympics, where he developed an interest in weightlifting and had the opportunity to travel with the team to different states across North America.
Derrick’s passion for supporting individuals with disabilities ultimately inspired him to establish the foundation as a way of giving back to the community.
