Who We Are

The idea for the Derrick Williams Foundation was inspired by Derrick Williams himself, who was born with disabilities and diagnosed as paraplegic at birth. With the support of his aunt, a nurse at Temple Hospital, Derrick received the guidance and encouragement he needed during his early development. She helped him learn how to speak and, with the assistance of a therapist, supported his journey toward mobility.

Through determination and the right support system, Derrick was able to overcome many of the challenges he faced growing up. Today, he is able to communicate and walk independently.

Derrick established the foundation as a way of giving back to the community and supporting individuals who may be facing similar challenges.
